Penang Ferry Service is the oldest ferry service in Malaysia. Located in the state of Penang, this famous ferry service connects Sultan Abdul Halim ferry terminal in Butterworth to Raja Tun Uda ferry terminal at Weld Quay in George Town in Penang Island. The ferries are designed for vehicles to roll-on/roll-off. Some board pedestrian passengers on the vehicles (cars) on the lower deck.
The ferry carry light vehicles on bottom deck and padestrian on top level. The bottom deck are share by 4 wheels car and two wheels motorcycle. The cars onboard the ferry occupied the front part follow by the motorcycles. After the boarding, the captain sound the siren before departure.
If the weather is good, you can enjoy the Penang Island view by looking backward.
The ferry has 2 toilets for male and female and one mini counter selling snacks and drinks on the upper level. You may climb the staircase, but take good care of your safety as it is sometimes sliply during rainy day.
Some passengers choose to move closer to the date to enjoy the sea wind and better view of the scenery.
