Pemaquid Harbor Vacation Guide

Pemaquid Harbor is more a collection of several widely spread homes than a real village. There is no downtown, just a few roads winding around the splendid granite harbor best known as the home of the Pemaquid Light House. There are a few B&B’s around if you care to spend the night, but I don’t recall any restaurants, convenience stores, or much of anything else around for that matter.

The area is certainly worth a visit because the coast here is exceptional and unlike most other areas, free of tourist hoards. There are some quality kayak and boating tours which depart from the harbor as well…so even more motivation for a visit. As exquisite as the lighthouse is, let me stress that it is not a madhouse – your visit here can gleefully include a relaxed afternoon curled up in the shoreline rocks with a good book (nothing finer than the lull of crashing waves). A truly refreshing daytrip destination.

Short little junket up to Maine. Planning on some hiking, kayaking, and just relaxing before getting back to the year end grind. Not as glamorous as the cycling trip in the spring but sometimes you just need some simple downtime.
