Tapas Oasis near the Cathedral Jul 26, 2015
After exploring Seville's grand cathedral, the three of us were looking for a place to grab a drink, some tapas, and relief from the scorching heat. It was 46 C and even tables in the shade in the path of misting machines were of no relief. The intense heat just radiated off the pavement. On a nice shady side street near the cathedral we found an unassuming place that looked quite inviting and was air-conditioned. I love al-fresca dining when on vacation but the heat was ridiculous so this was just what the doctor ordered. The place was quite large inside yet very cozy. There were many traditional decorative touches that made this place feel old and new at the same time. The service was very friendly, if a little slow. As long as we were in a comfortable climate I didn't care about that. They had a large and varied menu of different tapas. We ordered many and shared them. Sharing is the great thing about tapas. Everything we ordered was delicious! We kept ordering different drinks and sampling more food. A quick respite turned into a 2 hour lunch. We turned in to Sevillians! We liked the place so much, we did the unthinkable and returned the next day. It was even hotter! The server remembered us and once again we had a wonderful experience. If you're near the Cathedral, look for this place, even if it's not brutally hot. It really gave us a sense of the city through its decor, food, drink, and accommodating staff.
