Peachy Canyon's Old School House Tasting Room Templeton Reviews
A peachy good Zin May 25, 2010
I met Jake, one of the owners and wine makers, in Dallas at a Zin wine fest a couple of years ago. Jake invited me down to visit the school house to taste some of his other wines and I was not disappointed. I went to see this place and not only enjoyed their zinfandels, but everything about the place.
The tasting room is a little ways from the winery, but it is very much worth the drive down 46 to enjoy the fellowship with the staff and other tasters. They offer tastings for a small price, but you get that back if you buy a bottle. That too was an easy thing to do as well.
The intimate old school house sits on a really nice property surrounded by open areas for picnics and entertaining. Inside, there are plenty of products to taste besides, or should I say pair, with the wine. Pasta sauces, salsa, English Toffee, cheese and meats and so on and so on. The table tops products were also very nice and reasonably priced.
The staff was very nice and offered generous pours and polite conversation. Many of their wines stood out including the 2006 Vortex. I was fortunate to get a couple of bottles and now they have since sold out. Although Zinfandels dominate tasting menu, you will find Cabernets, Merlots, and special blends that are available to sample. Each wine has unique characteristics with distinguished qualities.
