Only a Little Off the Beat in Path Jul 10, 2012
While touring around Cabbagetown and the farm and cemetery within this Toronto neighborhood, my buddy and I were looking for a place to eat. We came across The Peach Tree which seemed quiet and the menu looked good. It features local cuisine cooked with eastern Mediterranean flavors. I had butternut squash soup and grilled trout. Both were amazing. The trout was served with bazmati rice which went wonderfully with the fish. The decor inside makes you feel like you're in 19th century Vienna. Not sure the connection between Vienna, Canada, and the Middle East, but it was unique for the area. While Cabbagetown is not the center of action in Toronto, it is a nice leafy neighborhood with access to the streetcars, and the Peach Tree fits in nicely.
