Great Local Restaurant in the DR Dec 22, 2010
This was very obviously the place to be. In a string of restaurants, this one was the most popular. In a great part of the old city, Pat'e Palo overlooks El Caza de Columbus, the building housing its namesake's grave. Of course you can practically eat outside here year-round, which is noce in the evening with the dull lighting against the ancient walls of the building dating back hundreds of years. If you are looking for a suggestion, I had the skewered loin which came on a portable spit. Highly recommended. I actually tried the Italian place right next door on the next night and it too was good. I'm sure you could eat your way down the row and not have a basd experience, Pat'e Palo just seemed to be the most popular.
