Hurricanes and Dueling Pianos May 12, 2009
Pat O’Briens is one of those "must see" places in New Orleans. The bar is located just off Bourbon Street and right next to Preservation Hall. The rumors are true…the hurricanes are really as strong as people say they are. The bar has traditional indoor bar seating, patio seating and a room with the dueling pianos. Outside of its famous reputation, the bar itself is pretty average. It’s a little dark and musty inside, but the dueling pianos are nice.

Well, if you are in New Orleans, you HAVE TO visit Pat O' Brien's and have the famous or infamouus Hurricane.
The atmosphere is great. Of course it's full of tourist, but it's great. You can also keep the glass as souvenier. I packed it really carefully, so I have a nice glass at home now. The Hurricane can be sweet, but it can be pretty strong too, so be careful. You will enjoy the patio and its tables. The fire fountain is great. There are always standing people waiting for empty seats. This is one of those things that you just have to do to have a full New Orleans experience. i enjoy this bar for its chill scene. it does get crowded but not sweaty like any other dance club. although it does have plenty of different rooms to hang out, i love the outdoor patio because it is large and perfect to meet people. in the center of the courtyard, there is this fountain with fire. it is pretty but on a warm, humid night, it could get really hot. but, it is a good conversation piece if you want to meet people. of course, when it is raining, it is not as fun to hang out in the courtyard, but if you are resourceful (or go to one of the rooms), you can still enjoy a rainy day at pat o'briens. i am not much of a hurricane drinker but people seem to like those made by pat o'brien bartenders.

Pat O’Brien’s • home of the famous Hurricane • a syrupy sweet concoction of a myriad of liquors served in a tall hurricane glass. I think everyone should try one at NOLA, but I can’t say I like it (way too sweet and a serious… NOLA Jazz Festival 2007! |

We were just walking around the French Quarter, went to the famous Pat O'Briens, but was full. Try with the Court of the 2 sisters, but was full too. Anyway, I have already been there before. Finally, we went to a nice restaurant, just to get some Margarita's and get started for the party… Some sightseeing in New Orleans |

We started at Pat O'Briens, birthplace of the Hurricane, to sample one of the famous drinks. It was good, and expensive and touristy, but the place was cool and we had a nice outdoor seating. The timeline from here on out is a bit fuzzy… Day 3 Continued: New Orleans |
