My hometown Passau is known as the City of Three Rivers because the Danube River is joined here by the Inn River from the South, and the Ilz River coming out of the Bavarian Forest to the North.
But Passau offers not only lots of water, it is also the site of the St. Stephen’s Cathedral. The “Dom”, as it is called in German, is famous for being a masterpiece of Italian Baroque architecture and for having the world’s largest church pipe organ with a total of 17,774 pipes (the sma...

We're about to start an exciting new part of our trip. From Cologne, we took the train to the town of Passau, in Eastern Bavaria. In this beautiful town three rivers converge: the Ilz, the Inn, and the Danube. For the next little while we will be following the Danube eastwards... on bikes! Our route soon crosses into Austria, where we bike through the Danube valley to Vienna. From there we continue east through Slovakia and Hungary to our final destination, Budapest. The trip is about 700 km ...

I'm been to Europe on a few different occasions, but some of them seem so long ago, it seems easiest just to put the pictures together in one blog.

On our way from Munich to Prague, we stopped in Passau, hometown of our beloved bus driver, Mani. First, we took in the sights of the city from a scenic overlook. We were able to see bits of Austria as well as the confluence of three rivers: the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz. We could even see Mani's house! Next, we made our way into Passau and briefly visited St. Stephen's Cathedral, home of one of the world's largest pipe organs. We were able to go inside a...

Passau was also one of the places we passed to avoid the expressway. We expected a very simple place, but we were wrong. Passau has a lot of beautiful places. This is also where the St. Stephan's Church was located which houses the biggest organ in the world. I have seen the St. Stephan's in Vienna but this one in Passau is also one beautiful church worth mentioning. Not only for the church, Passau is worth visiting. Not to mention, the going up the castle there is a test for my legs!
