Passage House Hotel Newton Abbot Reviews
Good Location, Great Views, Friendly Service May 19, 2008
I've found a gem of a place called 'The Passage House Hotel'. Really easy to get to from the M5 and the perfect location for Exeter and surrounding coastal areas too. A good room, clean and smart with lovely views. I ate food in The Passage House Inn, a quaint traditional pub next door. Really friendly place and part of the same group. Some of the hotel rooms look out over the Teign estuary and all leisure facilities in the hotel were a good standard and available to use as a hotel guest - never mind the gym, I could have just sat and watched the wildlife on the water for hours!
A lovely hotel with friendly service sums this place up.

Built next to the 17th century inn on the banks of the Teign estuary, this accommodation offers a modern, comfortable atmosphere whether staying for business or pleasure. There has been a hostelry on the site since Roman times. It was the site of a tidal ford and travellers would arrive and wait to cross the river. The hostelry became known as the passage way across the river, and this is still reflected in its current name. There are 6 function and conference rooms, a business centre, holiday apartments and extensive car parking. A total of 90 rooms are on offer. The hotel features a lobby, bar and a restaurant.
The modern full en suite rooms are equipped with a hairdryer, television, direct dial telephone, broadband Internet connection (fee), in-house films (fee), and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathrooms are fitted with a shower and a bath.
There is a very attractive and relaxing leisure suite with a steam room, sauna and well appointed gym. The beauty salon offers a range of treatments, massages and aromatherapy (fees apply). Hele Park Golf Club is roughly 5.6 km from the hotel.
For coffee and that informal meeting, the Vue terrace and conservatory offers stunning views of the estuary. The Lightermans Restaurant offers table d'hte and an la carte menu, making the best use of local produce. For a more informal dining experience (or as an alternative) guests can dine at the inn which offers an excellent carvery and an extensive menu from a sandwich to succulent steaks and fish.
By car from Bristol via the M5: From the M5, continue forward onto the A38 (signposted Plymouth). Keep in the left-hand lane and merge onto the A380 (signposted Torquay). After approximately 12.9 km, take the A381 exit (signposted Teignmouth/Kingsteignton and The Racecourse). Take the third exit off the roundabout, following the racecourse sign into Kingsteignton. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Vicarage Hill A383. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Greenhill Way. Take the first left into Hackney Lane.
