Party Boats (motorized) Dec 22, 2009
Now, if you want a little bit more of a party-like atmosphere and you've got anywhere from
about 5 to 20 people, these are the boats you want. They are characterized by the creatively
Christmas-lighted canopies over the top of them and they are usually blaring Egyptian
Sha'aby music (basically festive Egyptian dance music often used by belly-dancers in
performance, very fun). Sometimes if you're lucky enough to get a fun boat captain, he will join in on the fun, dancing along and playing DJ at the same time. You can get a great view of all the major hotels, Nile cruise boats, floating restaurants, and bridges during your ride. DO NOT pay more than 70LE per hour, 50 or 60 is the average price. Take note, there is no alcohol allowed on the boats or anywhere in public, so do your imbibing beforehand. You can, however, bring any food or snacks or other beverages on the boat with you. Sometimes the boat captain will offer you tea for maybe 5LE or so if you're interested. Once you're ride is over and the boat has docked, expect random kids to come aboard trying to sell you flowers or bracelets or other small trinkets that you are NOT obligated to buy if you don't want. Make sure you keep an eye on when you leave the dock, so you know you're getting your full hour and nothing less. Other than that, you'll get to have fun practicing your belly-dancing techniques in relative private (limited embarrassment potential)...........Yalla!!!
