Happy 10th Anniversary Jun 27, 2013
On a trip to Miami, i took the day away from the beach to visit the zoo and it was amazing. They offered a discount entry in celebration of 10 years of operation and had free shows all day long. I watched a Bird and wild cats exhibition but my favourite was the reptile cave. there are such a variety of animals and Jungle Island offers a great hands on experience, feeding parrots, giant tortoise and a petting area with lambs and llama's. The only thing i thought was odd, is the Lions seemed to be heavily sedated and spent the entire day sleeping in a glassed area and spectators could photograph from outside. I would much rather watch them interact and be lively. The amazing part would be the flamingos pond. I would highly recommend this location as a family adventure, as they do a great job providing beach, park, food and benches for children.

very clean but small Apr 30, 2011
this park/zoo is very nice attraction in miami, but it is very small you can walk the whole place in less than an hour.if you like rare birds this is a must to visit while in miami. If you rather see larger animals i wouldnt recommend this zoo.for large animals i saw tigers a camel and some goats and some monkeys..the bird show was great there where large condors flying just inches from your head.but the tiger show was a waste of time..all they brought out was a baby tiger, shunk and a bearcat..also when you enter the park the staff will put large parrots on your shoulders..but they wont let you take a photo the staff will take the photo and you have to buy it at a price of $25 for 1 pic"what a ripoff"

Parrot Jungle Island is not technically a zoo, but more of an amusement park where you actually get to interact with a lot of the animals, including kangaroos, baby tigers, several different types of birds and snakes. It costs around $25 to get in and it is totally worth it, considering the facilities are very nice, the food stands actually have decent food and you could easily spend a whole day at Parrot Jungle Island because of all of the cool shows they have with the different types of animals. I've never been much of a bird person, but I walked out of Parrot Jungle Island with a completely new awareness and sense of appreciation as to how beautiful and intelligent some birds can be.
