Parrot Bar & Grill Myrtle Beach Reviews

Trudging back from registration for the half marathon, I impulsively stopped at a bar which looked inviting from the street. Looks were deceiving, but only on the food front. The Parrott is a small, but cozy space, featuring a vintage bar footprint from days gone by. The bar is center stage, a large U which hosted nearly full occupancy at 6PM on a Friday evening (off season). To ace the retro atmosphere, the balance of floor space is occupied by a small pool table, three dining booths and a juke box, of course.
I became the sole patron seated at a booth, but was quickly passed a menu by the barmaid and courteously asked if I needed a beverage. The food offerings were limited and very basic, disappointing my efforts to discover a hidden treasure. The Philly cheese steak I ordered was okay, but well short of its northern namesake and slightly overpriced (due to lack of any sides and relatively diminutive portion). However, I quickly discerned from the lively banter at the bar this was primarily a local watering hole with camaraderie and drinks the main attraction (I noticed nobody at the bar had ordered food). I was joined by a family at the booths before I left and can attest to the quick and friendly service.
A nice spot for a drink and fine for a quick bite to eat, but unable to recommend if you are seeking any kind of unique dining experience.
