Parque de las Leyendas Lima Reviews
Affordable Zoo Jun 21, 2011
To quote a crazy english girl I meet down here:
"I love Peru, it's so poor!"
But jokes aside it is a pretty decent for a straight up third world zoo.
The zoo is located close to the city center and it's cheap to travel by taxi there.
The positive here is that they have some Amazonian/Andean creatures you are unlikely to see anywhere else (Amazonian tapir? You gotta be kidding me) The downside is that the heat can make this place smell and it's quite literally swarming with small, ill mannered children.
They have also cut the upper teeth of the tigers and wing-clipped the birds.... :(
If you just want to see a zoo down here I can recommend this as it's close to the city center and very cheap, but if you want to see flying birds, tigers with all their teeth and closer contact with some of the animals I recommend you look at my review of Huachipa Zoo outside Lima. Just beware of the travel arrangements so you get back home.
