Parker, Arizona is right on the border of California and Arizona. The Colorado River is what Parker is known for. The weather is hot especially during summer months (up to 120 degrees Farenheit). The weather is dry, so it is a very nice thing to have the Colorado River nearby to cool off. Along the river, there are a lot of beach front property houses and resorts, so in turn, there are a lot of tourists in the summer, meaning "Weekend Warriors" with their jetskis and big loud boats. It is rather peaceful however, if you'd like to get a way from all of the busyness of the city life. Lake Havasu is about an hour's way north-east of there.

If you go more into the city, you will find grocery stores and small shops that contain a lot of "river water" gear. This place is great if you like heat! Try renting a jetski, pontoon, or boat for an hour or so. Fishing is also very common along the river. There is also a way where you can reach Parker Dam by water.

Los Angeles to the Colorado River - Day 3
posted by:

Got up early, had breakfast, packed up and checked out to meet the Trek Group at 7:30am in the lobby.  Sorted out all the paper work and then packed everything into the trailer.  There are twelve in the group (3 guys, the rest girls) - 4 from the UK, 3 from Japan (studying in the US), 1 from Holland, 2 from Australia, 1 from Korea (studying in the US) and 1 from Israel. It was 300 miles to the Colorado River but it was a comfy minibus and had frequent stops, including lunch. Arr...

Day 16 - Parker
posted by:
May 25, 2006 - Jul 21, 2006
Today was a really nice ride. It was only 35 miles, so the cyclists finished up quick. Two really interesting things happened while I was on roadside; first- I randomly took out my laptop to work on Crew Chief stuff and I found an unsecured wireless signal! We were pretty much in the middle of nowhere! Then, a guy in a big Ford truck pulled up and told us to stop by at his gas station later on and he'll help us out. When I went to visit him later in the day, he gave us FREE gas, FREE ice, and...
