Park Royal Ixtapa/Zihuataneo Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Reviews
Love the staff but beware the timeshare Jul 26, 2011
I travelled to Ixtapa/Zihuataneo using my timeshare so I don't know how helpful my cost analysis is. I CAN say that the staff were very friendly, professional and kind to a lone Canadian female tourist. I travelled during the off season when, in fact, I was the only English speaking tourist in the resort. The staff, thankfully, for the most part spoke either great English or enough to feed me and get me margaritas. They really were the highlight of my trip. A special mention to Raul who even spoke some French!
The first room I was given was acceptable. The bathroom was a bit '70's. I asked for an upgrade and was given a studio on one of the renovated floors. Certainly not 5 star but very, very clean with great maid service and a nice view of the Pacific. If you do decide to book, ask for the 22nd or 23rd floor!
The rest of the facility is attractive if a bit different. I love the El Pescador restaurant where you look out to the beach from a covered veranda. All the restaurants are buffet style except the Italian restaurant which is by reservation, quite small and indoors The wait staff are charming and attentive at all times.
The only disappointment to me were the pools. Or, actually, one very large pool. They have no separate pool for the children and the swim up bar is crowded by youngsters getting Pina Coladas, sin alcool. However, the pool aerobics were fun and fabulous, again thanks to the hard-working staff.
The beach is a beautiful, Pacific beach. Certainly not the clear waters of the Caribbean but with it's own Pacific charm.
Check the website for deals. It seems that you can get all-inclusive from $39 usd...
