Perfect at Waterloo Apr 02, 2017
The Park Plaza County Hall is the perfect London hotel. They like to say they are in the heart of London and near Waterloo Station. They really are. I walked out of Waterloo station and arrived at their door 3 minutes later after walking past the London Eye. I was warmly greeted and promised a quiet room on the 13th floor. I arrived at my door and discovered an awesome room. I could see a lot of Waterloo station and lots of traffic below, but I couldn’t hear any of it. The ‘tea and coffee’ area was actually a bar. I had glasses, dishes, cutlery, a microwave and a mini bar. The bathroom had a nice deep bath tub, separate massive shower, nice towels and great toiletries. I was given a twin room and both beds were fantastic. I also had a satellite/internet TV, desk, and a massive closet. In the room there were lots of nice features like a shaving mirror, hairdryer, and slippers.

I had massive windows looking out over Waterloo station with blackout curtains. The only issue I had was that these massive curtains did not have a pelmet, so the sun did shine in a little bit in the morning. If you do decide to stay here, ask for a room on the top 2 floors (13 and 14) that looks out over Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey and the London Eye.

This is an excellent hotel for London. Just excellent.

DAO’s Plus Points:

- Quiet (in London even!) rooms with Air-conditioning

- Great beds

- Fantastic location

- Houses of Parliament, Big Ben & Westminster Abbey – 6 minute’s walk

- Fitness Studio, Sauna, Steam room, Aurora Spa

Great staff and location. Rooms are nice and very well prepared. Concierge checked our bags when we arrived a few hours before rooms were ready and then delivered them to our room when we were able to check-in.

Four star luxury in Westminster Jul 04, 2011
I booked the Park Plaza as I couldn't get the hotel I wanted for the Jazz festival in London. Being four star I thought I'd give it a shot. The location is excellent. Just over Westminster bridge and around the corner and you're there so not too far to walk to all the attractions. It's also right by the London Eye which I had a nice view of poking above County Hall.

I didn't use much of the hotel service while I was there, there was no swimming pool and I didn't get to use the gym unfortunately, but the concierge was very good when it came to holding my bags while I darted around town on the last day to get a few things done.

The room was really interesting. Stepping through the door you're into a mini cinema room. On the back wall a sofa, which is also a sofa bed and on the opposite wall a large flat screen TV. Moving on there is a sort of corridor which runs from the cinema room to the bedroom. In the corridor on the right is a kitchen, including mini bar, fridge with space for your own things which is a nice change, microwave oven, sink, champaign glasses and so on and so forth. On the opposite wall is the bathroom with a nice bath and some Dead Sea complimentary hygiene products. The Dead Sea salts were pretty good. All very clean as I would expect from a four star.

The bedroom was also nice with a fairly large double bed, another TV and plenty of wardrobe space. A large window to the side and a panoramic view across city hall and the London Eye.

All in all it's a nice place to stay. The room can come across a touch utilitarian in some ways but the bathroom with large bath gives the comfort you might want. The lifts are really really busy so sometimes it might be worth looking for the stairs. Staff gave me a selection asking whether I'd prefer a room some number of floors up or whether I'd prefer to be lower. I'd recommend the place, and though not my favourite hotel in London, it is nicely presented with a cool room which is not stupendously expensive.

One of the best places to explore London from! Sep 28, 2011
The PP is located in the centre of London, in close proximity to all the must see sights in London! If you are looking to explore London, this location is hard to beat as it is within walking distance of the London Eye, Big Ben, Westminister, Parliament, Trafalgar, National Gallery, Buckingham Palace, picadilly, SoHo, Leicester square and many other sights. The hotel is also very near to the Waterloo tube station, so you can connect to almost anywhere in London. For those taking the Heathrow express from the airport, it is a one stop transfer at Paddington to Waterloo on the southbound Bakerloo Tube Line.

The hotel itself is all suites, with separate living room, bedroom and a kichenette type area (no stove but microwave is available). Some of the suites have the bedroom as soon as you walk in with the living room past the bedroom. This might seem a little strange to some people, so make sure you ask for a regularly configured room if it matters to you. Also you can ask for the rooms facing the London eye for a spectacular view of the Eye, however it will cost you 15 GBP extra per room. But the view when you wake up is worth it. The bathroom is large and modern, with separate shower stalls and bath tubs. The beds are comfortable and there is a TV in the bedroom as well.

Wifi internet is available free of charge and the free version is fast enough that you dont have to upgrade to the not free-high speed plan. The breakfast is also fairly good with very pleasant staff working there. The gym facilities are also pretty good for a hotel. There is also self laundry services available.

The hotel is on the southbank which doesnt have many restaurants next to the hotel, however Picadilly is a mere 10 minutes away by tube and has plenty of places to eat.

All in all, excellent place to stay at. The only downside is that PP is affiliated with Carlson Properties so points earned are not redeemable at the main stream chains.
