I'm surprised by the other reviews because I loved this hotel. I was on the 11th floor room 1153 (I think) it was a corner room with a view of 7th avenue.

I stayed at this hotel with my daughter in July 09. Hotels in New York are expensive but I managed to get a good deal (with breakfast) on Expedia for about £95 a night - a four night for three night deal.

This hotel was in an absolutely perfect location. It was a five minute walk to Central Park (hence the name)and a ten minute walk to Time Square. If I hadn't been there with my teenage daughter I probably would have stayed in the Soho/Greenwhich area which is more my style but I enjoyed the buzz of this area.

The hotel was very smart and the room we ended up with was big, clean and spacious with a view of 7th Avenue. The bed itself was also very, very comfortable. We were originally given a room facing some inner square looking opposite other bedrooms but after a quick word with the receptionist we were switched to a room with a view.

Online it listed breakfast as continental so I was not expecting much. In fact it was a full and very tasty breakfast with bacon, eggs, pancakes and lots of fresh fruit and yoghurt. The breakfast room was bright and airy with huge windows with a view of the New York streets lined with yellow taxis. A perfect start to the day!!

The staff around the hotel and in the breakfast room were really nice and polite. The rooms were also cleaned adequately every morning to a high standard.

My only criticism is the lifts were VERY slow. Being on the 11th floor this was quite irritating. We were told by reception they had installed some new system which gives priority to people going up but it seemed like they forgot about the people going down! We soon worked out you have to press to go up for the lift to arrive (sometimes empty) then when you are in you hit the ground floor button, crazy I know!!

Lacks Customer Service, don't stay there Mar 18, 2009
I had read the previous reviews on this hotel regarding customer service and was a little eskeptical in staying at first and figured that I got a good rate, what the heck. But everything I read about it was true. This hotel has the worst custo...read entire review at TravelPost.com

Terrible Hotel and No Air Conditioning Jun 19, 2008
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. No air conditioning during a heat wave. Rooms had a fan unit but you could not set the temp and it never blew out cool air. Rooms were dirty and moldy smelling. Mold on ceilings and mirrors. Dirty ca...read entire review at TravelPost.com

Beware! No Air Conditioning! Jun 17, 2008

Noisy, small room Jan 11, 2008
We found the location useful for our purposes and appreciated the fitness room. Otherwise, we disliked our small, noisy room, which shared a wall with a bank of elevators and faced 7th Ave. traffic plus the constant sound of a generator, though I'...read entire review at TravelPost.com

This hotel was a nightmare from the start. Upon arrival (late, 1 AM), I was faced with a line of 7 people and no one at the front desk. After 20 minutes, a front desk clerk appeared. But no rooms were available. We were told - after another 20 min...read entire review at TravelPost.com
