i found paris rather expensive, despite coming from london! sit-down 3 course meals can be very poor quality if going for standard menu of the day, though those are the cheaper options. i ended up prefering buying bread and salads and having a picnic.
the museums are great though, but beware of the opening times. i was more keen on the smaller city museums like D'Orsay with lots of pre-1930 stuff.
the lourve is very much an art fortress, and instead of trying to see it all - i just picked the periods i was intersted in and i suggest you do the same! else you will feel all dizzy from your visit! there are no problems with ticket purchases at all, lots of automatic machines and about 6 manned ticket booths.
queue for security is quick. or you can buy tickets at an fnac - they do tickets for other sights and attractions too, but they charge a commission of about 10% of ticket price.
