Don't miss it. Bring a picnic, sit under a tree and soak it all in.

I would DEFINITELY recommend hitting up Parc Guell when you visit Barcelona, Spain. The views of the city and the Mediterranian are amazing. The park is huge with many different sights to enjoy. I think that was my favorite part of Barcelona, besides seeing the Olympic Stadium. Be sure you hike up to the top of the park for a breathtaking view of the city. It's awesome! :)

Go the park of Gaudi. Climb the hill, go further and further. Then enjoy the fantastic view of Barcelona all around you. I was there solo as well, inhale the atmosphere there for you and just for you alone and don't be sad that there's nobody you can share this wonderful moment with.

This is a crazy looking park designed by Gaudi, Barcelona's famous architect. A lot of the buildings look like something straight out of a Dr. Seuss book, with crazy, crooked, colorful structures spiraling from the ground at dozens of odd angles. Other buildings look almost organic, with columns that look like giant mud arms reaching out from the earth. There are plenty of places to sit around and enjoy the shade or to listen to musicians performing in the park.
My only complaint is that it seemed too much a park of concrete instead of trees. It seems more of a playground than a park in the natural, outdoor sense. Part of the Europe Summer 2005 travel blog |
