Paragon Birmingham Jul 26, 2008
I stayed in the Paragon purely and simply because it was the second cheapest hotel in Expedia for that night - £32.50 or so. And possibly the last single room in the UK - a tiny little room, in fact, so if that bothers you this isn't the place for you.
I really liked it though. Firstly, the staff were helpful. I called to confirm the booking coz I was getting in so late, and they answered with a real person. The staff who were on at 1am when I rocked up were really friendly, and the girl who checked me out found me a map so I could walk into the centre. Ten out of ten for lovely staff - why isn't that a rating above? The room was very clean, there were enough towels, and there was tea and coffee and a pen. I don't need much more. The hotel is daylight-walking distance from the station and the city centre. I'm not sure I would do it after dark - the area is a little warehouse ish and dark looking. But it's an easy stroll in day time. The downstairs lobby is old fashioned, in a good way - I'm not sure what period of architecture, but it is a really refreshing change frmo some of the more souless holiday in cubes I usually stay in. Excellent value, adn I would go back. Part of the Home town unicorns travel blog |
