Parador de Salamanca Reviews
Another great Parador - great kitchen Aug 11, 2014
The Parador de Salamanca surprised me by not being an old castle or monastery but a quite modern hotel with a fabulous view towards the magnificent city of Salamanca with its churches, towers, cathedral and stunning architecture.
The hotel provides free parking for its guests behind the walls surrounding the whole are and with an easy access to the hotel reception afterwards. The reception is large and people behind the counter are really nice and service minded. If you have an Amigo membership make sure you show it as they really value members.
The room I was given was spacious, welcoming and located on sixth floor with a view facing away from the city. Even though it faced the wrong way, it was still nice as there was no building, as high as the hotel in front of it, so I had a quite open view. The bed was awesome, nothing less and like many beds in hotels in southern Europe it was quite hard. The bed was so nice that I actually wouldn’t mind having a similar one at home.
The room had a couple of chairs and a small table in front of the windows. It had naturally a well equipped mini bar and a nice desk if it had been needed to do some office work. The room had also bathrobes and a safe: nothing lacked. The bathroom was also large with an Italian shower.
The hotel had a large bar on the ground floor, which I didn’t visit it but they also had a splendid restaurant one floor further down. I visited the restaurant and I had the fortune of a wonderful 7-course dinner inclusive wine and beer for 45 euro, which I found was one of my best bargains on the entire trip. One thing I find funny with these state driven hotels is that you can't expect a service level like in order 4-5 star hotels but I have always found that smiles and friendliness from my side have been paid back several times.
I wouldn't hesitate a second to stay in this Parador again - and I would use their restaurant again as it was really great.
