My husband and I went there on our honeymoon! We went with Royal service and stayed in the romance bali suite (Royal service has no children). Our Villa was 4 feet from the beach seperated by a one foot wall. Sunsets and sunrises were beautiful, although we were further than to the royal service pool with no kids, we were picked up everytime we began to walk a few steps and brought to our desired location. Couldn't have asked for more pampering, royal service takes care of you always! We had the most romantic dinner under the stars you could ever imagine. Book all excursions with royal service, not through beach stands outside the resort. When we were about to leave they were opening souvenier shops that were as inexpensive as off the resort! Spa couples massages were wonderful! Spices and the Italian restaurant were great along with the Mexican restaurant. The ONLY thing we didn't like is being picked up so early to be brought to the airport to wait for 3 hours! Swim up bars are fantastic, Villas are wonderful and keep your eyes open for wildlife, saw exotic squirrel, iguanas, crabs, ring tailed racoons, beautiful birds, and heard howler monkeys!

Excursions are a must to catch the full experience of Costa Rica...Arenal Volcano, only seen on a clear night but you visit great hot springs in fantastic pools and get a tour of the rainforest, Palo Verde river boat tour (nature reserve)...we saw beautiful scenery and animals, 2 types of monkeys, crocs, birds, wild horses, and Jesus Christ lizards that run across the water.
The best was booked with the resort to go on adventure tours to go zip lining, hot springs, tubing and horse back riding(long, fun and exciting day)...is so worth it.
Romantic dinner for 2!
Monkeys seen on Palo Verde trip,
The Spa...very romantic couples

Lovely Resort Mar 11, 2008
This resort is expensive but worth every penny! The villa-style rooms are very roomy and the beds are SO comfortable. The resort is spread out and there are ample golf carts running at all times to give you a lift to anywhere you wish.

The food was phenominal - probably the best I've had yet at any all-inclusive I've stayed at. The Asian Fusion restaurant (Spices) was a crowd favorite on our trip.

The beach is very secluded but be careful that the hotel does not own the beach so any beach vendors are allowed. They will try to sell you their wares, jet ski tours, etc but if you tell them you aren't interested they will leave you alone.

While the resort was breathtaking we were really disaapointed. It was under construction and the hammering and construction noise was far from romantic and relaxing. The hotel gave us a new room when we complained. The next night in our new bungalow there was a party in the room directly upstairs that was very loud with music, voices, and movement. We didn't want to be party poopers but after a couple of hours at 2 am we politly asked the party ouselves to keep it down. When that did not work we called the front desk who said they would address the problem. Finally at 5am and 2 more calls to the front desk and a threat to check out. We were again MOVED AT 5am! I am well traveled and understand that there will be noises when dealing with adjacent quarters (At a reasonable level of course) and other guests but feel that in a more luxurious resort such as this The management would have invited the louder guests to a location where their party could continue and not disturb other guests and allowing all parties to continue their vacation as they see fit. (I later found out that our complaints were not the only ones) No apologies or any type of compensation were offered by the resort.
