Papão Travel Reviews

Jun 28, 2006
Papão is a trailer set in downtown Paracambi, which is a really small valley town in Rio de Janeiro, close to the hills that separate the state from São Paulo.

The trailer is parked on an excellent spot in one of the main streets of the city, and it's equipped with it's own table court, as if it was your typical fast-food joint. Not just a cart on the sidewalk.

Papão sells only hamburgers, with all kinds of toppings, such as cheese, bacon, ham, eggs, and so on. It's really cheap, even if compared to fast-food joints on bigger cities in Brazil. So, of course, it turned out to be a popular teen hangout spot.

But what really makes Papão an excellent place to eat is its mayonnaise. Homemade mayo like you've never tasted before! Freshly made and incredibly delicious, even though it seems kinda watery, like a sauce.

It usually opens at 7 PM, and closes around 5 in the morning, a little before the sun rises. It doesn't deliver, so you'll have to check it out personally. And don't forget to ask Stela, the owner, to put some extra mayo on your burger!

Simple but spectacular
