Pannekoekenhuis “Belveren”

One of my favourite restaurants is Pannekoekenhuis “Belveren” in Haaren. They have more than 290 different pancakes. The Dutch pancakes are totally different from the American pancakes. The American pancakes are thick and small (not everything is big in the USA) and sweet. In the Netherlands the pancakes are huge, flat (just as our country is).

This restaurant is simple but homy. It is hard to make a choice from the menu. Usually I pick the “boerenpannekoek” it has a lot of vegetables. As you can see on the pictures a lot people take the sweet pancakes with fruit and whipped cream.

The restaurant is situated in the middle of nowhere. There is a big car park and a bus stop nearby. Don’t come too late, after seven o’clock they are closed!
