Pangkor Island Beach Resort Sep 16, 2012
Pangkor Island is one of the island in Perak, Malaysia. Also one of the island nearest to where i lived.
First time i went to this island was 20years ago and the second time was 3years ago, and this is my 3rd time there. This is the hotel where i lived 20years ago, i was still a baby. My mother told me, there's nothing much changed there, everything pretty much the same.
It's good to be back at the same hotel after 20years! This hotel was being owned by Pan Pacific and now their name had changed to Pangkor Island Beach Resort
Pangkor island hotel does provide a shuttle service from the Jetty to the hotel, but you have to pay like 19RM(6usd) per person.
From my experience, i went to the wrong Jetty which called Marina island jetty, like 15minutes i reached pangkor island and i have to chartered a pink taxi from the jetty to the pangkor island hotel, and it's just 20RM (7usd) and it's a lot much cheaper, sometimes mistakes doesnt mean all wrong haha :)
As for for the hotel, overall it's very good, great beach, but as for the food in the resort are a bit overpriced! and the room they have a lot flies, and they gave me a insecticide lol! It's too far from the Pangkor Town, like 15minutes and you need to pay for the taxi. If you need to get away from the gray and the frenzied hurly burly city life, well yes this is a good hotel :)

A luxurious tropical stay Sep 18, 2008
The Pangkor island beach resort is really a dream location. Beautiful beaches, great facilities, very friendly and dedicated staff, beautiful nature; it's just great.
There are four wings: the villa's, the ocean wing, the pacific wing and the garden wing. The last one is a bit more isolated. The main swimming pool is located in between the ocean wing and the beach. I've stayed in the Pacific wing which has a smaller pool in front which is more quiet.
On the resort premisis you can find a lot of hornbirds and some monkeys. The hornbirds are pretty much domesticated.
There are two restaurants: the ocean which usually has buffets and the pasific restaurants which is an a la carte restaurant. The latter one is excellent, however a bit more expensive that most malaysian restaurants. I have not discovered any off-resort restaurants that are conveniently close.
The island is not too big, so do not expect to much of it. You can visit is in half a day.
Overall an exellent resort to relax.
