Pangea

Nice place, nice staff, very secure... free internet and good food... lots of travelers but also kind of a place people are just coming and going (since it's in San Jose) so not a place you will really meet people. But clean, cheap and nice. You can even store stuff there (luggage or rent a locker if you have your own lock.) I was in Costa Rica for 3 months and with 1 month left I had alot of extra stuff, luggage, gifts etc I didn't want to haul around so I kept alot of stuff in a locker for about 20 days I think it cost $1/day or something? Not bad at all considering it was all there exactly how I left it when I came back the day before my flight home!

Pangea is a very young hostel, it has the usual dorms and private rooms, all at decent prices, dorm is only $10 pp and with that you get a very good sleep.. the beds here are very good, better than Costa rica Backpackers!! they also have a nice pool, a internet phone, they give you a free call to wherever for 10minutes.. after that its still cheap.  They have 10high speed computers, tho i couldnt download my photos lol, they also have a huge roof bar and cafe, the food is cheap and tasty.. breakfast under 2,000c.. ok the beer is more expensive at 800c a imp, but the view is amazing.. The tico-tica staff are extemely friendly ppl, and all so bloody happy lol.. the dorms are good size, with a huge wire locker which can fit a backpack!! there are no locks so bring your own.  Pangea has good security on the door, so all the dangers of the streets can stay outside.. and even if you wanna hang about outside be warned the red light district is just a few metres up the road..
All in all, its a very comfortable place to be, either if you are just coming to San Jose or been before, we usually stay at Costa rica backpackers, but felt like a change, and we are not disapointed.. very good value, nice atomsphere..
