Pancakes on the Rocks Travel Reviews

After 20 years of eating at Pancakes I will never eat there again! The service was very bad, the staff were cold and not happy & the worst was the food which was luke warm at the best, (which I received a refund for). I give it 1 out of 10 and will never go back, they should be ashamed of themselves, in a word PATHETIC!
There's only one way to pancakes...

There is FAR too much hype about this place.   You are led into a dark basement, and handed a standard lunch and breakfast menu, with the 'added extra' of a pancake shoved underneath!
The pancakes were horrific! tough and DEFINATELY NOT fluffy and 'to die for'....
Smoothies took 20minutes to arrive, were warm, and the table wasn't clean.
A waitress also put some poor souls' food on the floor while she cooed over  hyperactive, very annoying two year old!

My advice.....steer clear! try somewhere actually on the harbour, or a little gem tucked away further up the rocks!

Most of my friends who have been to Sydney urged me to try this restarurant. It serves all kind of food but pancake is their speciality. After queueing up for about half an hour or more, we finally got a table. I ordered a vanilla/choc pancake. My friends ordered, strawberry, black forest and i can't remember the other one. It tasted good for the first few bites but it went downhill after that. None of us could finish our pancakes. I don't know whats wrong. Is it the food or is it us? Being an Asian, I'm not used to eating pancakes with this kind of sauces during dinner time. And I'm wondering why there were so many people willing to wait for more than half an hour just for pancakes. Surely, we have problems with our taste buds. But I recommend eveyone to try it. You might love it just like everyone else in the restaurant. They seems to enjoy their food.

Great review!! From your picture, they certainly seem VERY sweet - too sweet for me! Maybe they have some that are less sweet? Hmmmm... it does sound like an interesting place though!!

benbrownumd says: For my birthday, a group of mates and I went out to dinner at the Foote. This restaurant is set in the Rocks district of downtown Sydney in a historic 1800s-era building. The front of the building is a pub while the back courtyard houses the restaurant. The unique part about Phillip's Foote is that ...
cgilvarry says: This is my favourite restaurant in Sydney.  Great for a casual meal that doesn't cost the earth.
Aprilosu says: It's been over a year since I was living in Sydney, but one place that still burns brightly in my memories is Sushi-e, the sushi bar above the Establishment Hotel bar on George Street. It was, hands down, my favorite place to eat in Sydney. The Japanese chefs are very friendly, and if you go there m...
