Panama City Tocumen Airport transportation Feb 08, 2014
It is similar story in many places around the globe where there is an airport run by rugged taxi drivers and your whole experience can easily go sour if you let them do what they like to do, and that is to TAKE your moneys… When you ask on information desk, the best answer you get is that TAXI will charge you $15 per person if you are in collective taxi and around $35 for the solo trip to the center of the town.
Now… there is local transportation in two forms.
Firstly there is MetroBus thing that requires cards that you cant buy on the airport and you’ll have to ask someone to slit the card for you and you give them 25 CENTS… or you can just go with local chicken buses that usually follow the main streets and pay the same price of 25 cents. Metro bus has clearly stated direction such as ALBROOK station, while for chicken buses you just ask which street they follow. Main street they go on is Via Espana.
You can also take MetroBus or chicken buses via Coridor Sur, which is faster option and it will cost you around 1.25$ for a ride.
Of course if you are into the TAXI, all power to you, but this is the post for rest of the people that hate to be raped. Bus station is a short walk on the right side of the terminal. You will have to cross the street and wait at the designated area.
