Only really a stopover, to break the trip to Wellington down a bit. I stayed at the Pepper Tree Hostel (YHA) in Palmerston North. All the singles had gone, so I had a nice double to myself ($52 a night, with $20 key deposit). Had a few beers at the Celtic Inn, in town - nice pub.
