Palm Lakefront Resort & Hostel Kissimmee Reviews
Only reason to stay is the price Mar 19, 2013
The Palm Lakefront Resort and Hostel is the only hostel in the Orlando/ Kissimmee area, actually located on Highway 192 in Kissimmee. And clearly the cheapest option in the area.
Not sure why the name has “Resort” in it, when it is clearly far from being one. When entering the parking lot, it is clear that this place was converted from a motel to a hostel, as the rooms and the front desk are in separate buildings, requiring people to go outside to get from one to another.
Each room has bunk beds and lockers, along with a bathroom inside. The toilet and shower are in a separate room, while the sink is in the same area as the bedroom. In fact, it looked like a hotel that I stayed before, with the setup being just about the same. And that could be a problem, as people will have to use the sink, with no way to block the sound of running water.
The rooms are not well-kept at all. Dirty, and the lighting is very bad. They were flickering in the room that I was at. Also, the security is bad, as the windows are hard to seal and lock shut, if not impossible. And I had a lot of trouble trying to open the door, with the key cards, as they just were not working.
There are a couple computers with free internet, but they are very slow. I did not use them much. And they are right by the front desk, which can get cramped.
There is a kitchen, where you can store your food. Not sure if the stove is working, but I would not count on it. Also, there is a common room, which is okay.
The owner of the place is a nice guy, who has 2 resident dogs. And the dogs seem very friendly. But the owner just does not seem to care too much about maintaining the place. And you may have to call him on a phone there, when checking in. I wonder if he has anyone else working there, because this place is hard to run by one person only.
The only positive thing I could say about this place, is that it is very cheap. The cheapest that I’ve ever seen within the US.
If money is not an issue, then I would suggest another place to stay. As the saying goes, “you get what you pay for”.
