Beautiful tropical oasis near beach Nov 16, 2011
This guesthouse is located only couple of minutes from the beach. It's tucked away in a tiny side street.
House is owned by a lovely retired British couple. We met only Paul, but heard so much about his wife and were sad we didn't get to meet her. The other staff was also very friendly, sweet, and so helpful.
We had two rooms. Both were beautiful, with comfortable four poster bed draped with large mosquito net, and big bathrooms. Rooms have AC and a fan.
Probably the best part is its big terrace, beautifully decorated with large table and 8 chairs. We spent a lot of time here. They served us breakfast here. In the evenings they would light mosquito spirals so we can sit outside. Sitting here you can watch jungle life all around you, including various bird species, monkeys jumping from tree to tree, chipmunks etc.
This terrace hides another interesting thing, a blue fridge full of beer, water, pop. You can take whatever you want and there's a board on the fridge where you can note how many you took and pay when you're ready. This was priceless for us, we didn't have to worry about getting water or anything else.
Breakfast was extra, and included a plate of fresh fruit, which we loved. It's your basic breakfast, coffee or tea, toast with butter and jam, or eggs.
This place is an oasis in a jungle, very close to the beach.
Absolutely lovely, we were very happy and highly recommend it!

Excellent accomodation, good price, friendly host couple (English!) Apr 18, 2011
A hidden gem located along one of the smaller paths leading away from the main road through Unawatuna. Excellent service and standard - english speaking host couple (from England). Great value for money - try to book in advance to make sure you get a room.
