Nice mosaics! Apr 11, 2011
Although this place is technically a palazzo, it’s more of a mosaic museum nowadays. Entrance is free and the place is pretty near Ravenna’s main sights (such as San Apollinaire Nuovo and the tomb of Dante) so it’s worth considering as a quick side trip. The place just has a great collection of mosaics, all situated on one floor. the descriptions of the mosaics are rather elaborate but only in Italian unfortunately. They seem to be from local excavations, and their quality is as good as the ones you pay money for while visiting the grander museums in Rome. For this reason, I think it’s worth stopping here just to get a bit of free but high-quality viewing in.
