Impressive pad! Apr 17, 2011
Palazzo Te is situated on the outskirts of central Mantua and is well worth visiting. Constructed by the Marquess Gonzaga in the sixteenth century, the palace was a bit of a playboy mansion of the day. This is where he would have entertained his mistress. The rooms are very palatial and impressively decorated. Esteemed guests included Emperor Charles V himself, so the Marquess was obviously doing something right here. Out of the many rooms, the most notable one has to be the Sala dei Giganti, where the frescoes are just amazing and the dimensions of the room cannot be seen. Other highlights of the sight include an impressive collection of Egyptian artefacts. If you are in Mantua, it is well worth making the trip here.
