Palace and Park of Versailles Reviews
Grandest Chateau with Classic Garden May 15, 2010
The Palace and Parks of Versailles is another interesting site that I have to include on the list of UNESCO's world heritage sites that I have been to. I was able to savor the grandeur of this palace way back 2010. The very stunning palace sits on a very very huge square meters of floor area. The structure resembles that of 18th century French work of art. While the record says - it has over 2000 windows, 700 rooms (one of which is the lavishly decorated king's room, over 1200 fireplaces and 67 staircases, I didn't concentrate on counting them as I was fascinated and very much eager to view them. On the display are the elegant furniture, paintings, sculptures, and tapestries.
The palace is situated within the enormous garden with classic landscape, well manicured lawns with geometrically shaped bushes and plants, lovable flowers, and sort of sculptures sitting on the basins. There were lots of fountains scattered along the garden, which according to the record totals about 1300 pieces.
(trivia : Chateau de Versailles was once the home of the most powerful monarch in the history - King Louis XIV).
