After the mountain hit up the hot springs to relax! Mar 24, 2010
After snowboarding today at Wolf Creek this was the perfect way to relax with my friends and soak those tired muscles! You get over the smell of sulfur, in fact...I found it quite pleasant. For any other photographers out there...the smell should remind you of the darkroom!
There were several pools all labeled with different temperatures ranging from 97 degrees to 110 degrees. You can even take a dip in the snow melt full Animas River to cool off, if you're gutsy enough. We spent most of our time in pools that were 104 degrees...this is probably close to the usual hot tub temp.
Bring your own towels...if you forget they rent them for $3. Lockers are $2, I think. We crammed 3 people's stuff into one locker. Admission is $20, $25 if you want access to the 18 and up area...
The upgrade is great for busier days when there are a lot of kids at the springs. Today we could've gotten away without it.
Advice: REMOVE YOUR JEWELRY. The sulfur tarnished my toe ring...I've had it on for so many years I don't even remember it. Now it looks like a censor line across my toe, lol.
It snowed all day on the mountain and at the Springs we had blue skies and the beginning of a beautiful sunset. It was the perfect end to our day.
