There are two canyons, the Upper Antelope Canyon and the Lower Antelope Canyon. Our first visit was to the Lower Antelope Canyon which, of the two, is the more challenging hike. This canyon is not for small children or anyone with a walking or balance issue. Not to worry though because the Upper Antelope Canyon has pretty much the same scenery but is an easy walk that anyone can do. The location is north eastern Arizona. It is a very scenic drive from Flagstaff. We ar...

After being at the lake for the better part of the day yesterday, I figured I would go check out the sights! Seeing my town as a touist as something new to me. Holding a camera and trying to take the best photo, blocking out the townies who know me who just kept pointing and/or laughing at me.... you losers! Only if you knew how many friends I have on my cult travel site called Travbuddy! Someday they will be sorry... (I thought in my head...lol)The first thing that came to my head was the fa...

Can you believe we nearly slept in? Our latest start of the day so far, almost 9 a.m. Shows how tired we were from yesterday. But today we continue our drive east through southern Utah and the northern edge of Arizona.
Our first stop today is Page, Arizona and the Glen Canyon Dam which backs up the Colorado River creating Lake Powell behind it. The dam provides electricity to much of the west.
The visitor center invites you for a tour and a ni...

Before moving to Australia I was working in South Africa for a company based in Tucson Arizona. On multiple occasions I had to go to the head office and had opportunities to visit, during the weekends, this spectacular state of the American South West.

Our next stop was Lake Powell, where we stayed in the town of Page. The town itself has not much to offer in the way of attractions but Lake Powell (or rather, the scenery surrounding it) more than makes up for this.Lake Powell is a watersports mecca and especially popular for houseboating. It must be delightful to take off in your own floating little house and anchor in one of the many side canyons between those impressive red and orange rocks...An array of watersports is offered on the ...

Quick jaunt around that magic redrock-sandstone portion of the southwestern U.S. I was keen to see some sedimentary rocks and see some I did! Touched Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona all in 5 days.

On to Page through the cliffs to Page, Did the tour to Antelope Canyon the canyon was Awesome. Could of stayed for hours just to watch the rocks change colors. Then to our room at the Courtyard. Very nice room. Went to Lake Powell Resort to watch the boats. a stop at the Dam and back to Page for diner. We stopped at the Denneys and had great food. The next day we went through Monument Valley it was sort of a disappointment I was expecting more I guess.

Sittin' here, last day in Arizona before our long haul over to LA... Oh Page! The nightlife here is crazy! (sarcasm) But really, it's GORGEOUS... Carol's laying next to me craving steak and eggs, Anna's over there still in bed, Tony is somewhere, and we're off to Le Grande Canyon! More later (plus pics) when we get to Mr Tom's tonight :)

Antelope Canvon is a slot canyon located near page Arizona. Not to far from Lake Poowell. As you walk through it the light from the narrow roof give off great colors. It is a Photo masterpiece.

We want to go back to lake Powell and take the boat tour and hike out to Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Maybe we can stop at the Denny's in Page and see our favorite waiter, JayThor!

So Labor Day was a very good weekend to go camping. I talked to my buddy Rob and he had gotten 45 people together to go camping up in Page, AZ. We rented three 15 passenger vans with two U-haul trailers. The trip lasted for two days. So the first day we drove to the Rainbow Bridge near Strawberry and Payson, AZ. This was nice because we hiked underneath this 100 foot cieling of rock and around the side of the facade of the formation. Then it started to rain...
