Today, we traveled from Klagenfurt, Austria all the way here to Padua. It is a small old historic town about 30 minutes outside of Venice. Klagenfurt was a fun, relaxing stop on the way here. It was a charming Austrian town with a great Macdonald's! The drive through the northern Italian mountains was beautiful. Anyway, the hotel here in Padua (Padova in Italian) is super nice (4 star), complete with a bedet (sp?) and high speed internet. I already love how people talk down here, it is so smo...

Padova, I was SO excited to come and visit! We stayed in a hotel here for a couple of nights. Firstly because it was a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel in Venice and secondly because I really wanted to see the city. Some people go to Verona, I wanted to go to Padua. I am so glad that I did! Padova is certainly overlooked as a city to visit in Italy. I chose to visit for a few reasons. First is because it has the University of Padua, one of the oldest Universities in Europe and the...

I traveled to Venice last year, May 2005. It was ultra hot, already, even in May. The groups of tourists (me included) were almost unbearable. None the less, it was a great & memorable vacation/experience. Venice is a beautiful city. I hope that everyone gets the chance to visit & experience this enchanting city.

Studying abroad just doesn't mean partying and drinking, it means assimilating into the culture, learning the language, speaking the language, interacting with spaniards, eating spanish food "tapas", accepting the differences, opening up your horizons, being patient, and searching for yourself, for who you are.
This is my life, this is my year abroad in Granada, Spain 2007-2008

Arriving in ItalyStephen, Thursday Night, March 6We have arrived in Padua after three days of travel by many of the accepted means. We started off at the Shipyard, the bar at the Northwest Terminal at Logan, with a beer and then flew to Amsterdam, getting off about an hour late. Once in Amsterdam, we took a long walk in the terminal to our Paris flight. Here, we took off about a half hour late and landed only twenty minutes behind our schedule, which was to get to Paris Est ...

Today we
had class starting early at 8:30. Art class was very interesting because we
discussed Jackson Pollock and other modern art that we are going to see at the
Peggy Guggenheim museum tomorrow- a trip I am very excited about. Music class
was alright, and we looked at an Opera that we will see in our upcoming trip to
Vienna.
After
class, I dediced to try and catch mass at one of the local churches here in
Padua since I had time before our next visit. I chose the basilica in ...

Today I wanted to take a trip out to Bologna for some hand made tortellini, but first Mrs. Di Matteo accompanied me to Padua (on the way to Bologna) for a visit to the church of St. Anthony of Padua. Mrs. Di Matteo joined in the Italian mass while I had a look around. When she joined me we were able to attend a mass in English with some pilgrims from the states. This was a very nice experience. Sometimes the best are those you haven't planned. We head back to the train station after a brief sto...
