Paddy's Palace Dublin Reviews
Glad we only stayed the night Apr 01, 2009
This is not the first and i sincerely doubt the last bad review of Paddy's Palace in Dublin. Upon arrival, the young sassy receptionist informed us that they had "cocked up" our booking! The five of us were upgraded from a ten bed shared dorm to a four bed dorm. Thats right, one of us had to sleep on the floor! To be fair to the staff, they had laid out a pillow and duvet but for £20?
The sheets and pillows were clean but some dubious stains on the walls and mattresses caught our un-willing attention. The bathroom carpet was an thought-provoking compilation of body hair, stains and dirt. The shower was deceptive in the sense that the hot tap was freezing, and the cold tap literally puffed artic air at you - made a refreshing start to the day! A good thing about this Hostel is that it's relatively central to the city centre. On the site it advertises it's only two minute walk from Temple Bar which is not true - maybe the Irish can walk quicker but we reckoned it took just under ten. The Hostel provides a free shuttle to and from the airport which is a serious plus. On the night we stayed there was a water leak which soaked the electrics which led to every room being evacuated minus ours! We were lucky, the thirty people waiting outside at 4am were not so! Overall this was a less than impressive stay. Despite everything the staff remained friendly which made everything more bearable, but then again, what goods a ribbon on a turd? |

My hostel, Paddy’s Palace, was a 5-minute walk from the bust station so was pretty easy to find. A lot o Dublin’s hostels seem to be in that area near the bus station. I checked into my hostel, dumped my stuff and went for a wander… To Dublin |
