Pacific Edge Dominical Reviews
The best welcome to Costa Rica Feb 19, 2012
George and Susie (our hosts) could not have possibly given us a better first day welcome into Costa Rica. They made us feel as if the lodge was our own home. This first experience gave us great expectations about the rest of our trip.
The view of Playa Dominical from the lodge is absolutely phenomenal. Immediately after settling in, George and Susie brought out local maps to answer any questions we had about the area. They gave us excellent directions to places we wanted to see and even recommended a very good local eatery down by the Playa Dominical called Tortilla Flats. After getting back from hanging out at Playa Dominical and having dinner at the place they recommended, George and Susie welcomed us back and sat with us chatting for a bit. Susie went to bed quite early, but George stayed up pretty late with us by the pool telling us stories about his younger days and his move to Costa Rica from Australia - he even gave us beers and whiskey from his private stash - thanks George. After a night of stories and laughters, soon enough we went to bed to our 2 bedroom Bungalow Cabin, which is for up to 4 or more people. It was very clean and comfortable with a balcony that had spectacular views as well.
The next morning we were woken up by the sound of Howler Monkeys. Some sounds were off in the distance and some sounded as if they were right outside the bedroom window. At that moment I knew we had finally arrived to Costa Rica. Susie cooked us breakfast that morning from her daily menu. After breakfast that morning we were headed to Playa Ventanas. After checking out from the lodge, George and Susie offered to watch over our backpacks at the lodge rather than us leave them in the car in the general parking area by the beach.
After returning from Playa Ventanas we asked George and Susie if they knew of any near by camping area. They did not know of any near by locations, but suggested we drive down to the beach and ask for Muncho to see if he would let us camp out on his property by the beach - all we had to say was 'George and Susie sent us.' We grabbed our gear, thanked our kind hearted hosts for their enormous hospitality and on the road we went to explore the rest of this beautiful place.
We did find Muncho and he not only let us camp on his property for free, but he started a huge bongfire for us. We compensated him regardless - Thanks Muncho!

Service and Comfort... With a View!! Jun 08, 2011
We stayed at Pacific Edge for two nights in January 2011 as a stop over on our way from the Osa Peninsula to Arenal. While in the area, our primary goal was to take a day trip for snorkeling to Caño Island. After checking in on our first day, we went into Dominical to pay the remainder of our snorkel trip and get last minute details. When we arrived, the tour operator informed us that our trip was being canceled. Unfortunately, it was too late in the day for us to find another alternative as all of the local businesses were in the process of closing. Distraught over these developments, we returned to Pacific Edge at around 7:30 in the evening on a Saturday. Not knowing what to do, we turned to George and Susie, dragging them from their private quarters after hours. Despite this, they graciously began calling all of their contacts until they were able to assist us in finding a tour operator that would accommodate the three in our group at the last minute. Considering our stay in the area was loosely based around this trip to Caño Island, they pretty much saved the day.
Pacific Edge is nestled in the jungle, high on the hills outside Dominical, with an unsurpassed view of the surroundings. It is perfect starting point for day trips in the area, relaxing at the beach or just laying low in your bungalow enjoying the view. The cabins are spacious, clean and well appointed. The look out tower, pool and hammocks are all added touches for an establishment that has it all.
