P-Hotels Brattora Trondheim Reviews
P-hotels at the train station Mar 31, 2015
There are actually at least two P-hotels in Trondheim since we saw two different ones not too far from each other so you’ll need to know which one you are staying at if you shall be able to navigate from your arrival point to the correct hotel in the first attempt. We fortunately knew we were staying at the P-hotel next to the train station since we had chosen the location due to the convenient location by the transport from the airport and it would be an easy walk down to the ferry terminal from where we would depart a couple of days later.
The hotel location is actually pretty good it has the fjord on the one side of the building with only the railroad tracks between the hotel and the water. On the other side of the hotel there is a small harbor which is the last bit of the river leading to the ocean – the old town of Trondheim grew up around this river. So the hotel is 30 seconds walk away from the train station, a bit under 10 minutes’ walk from the ferry terminal with the boats sailing up and down the Norwegian coast and finally it is 2 minutes’ walk away from the old town of Trondheim and probably 10 minutes from the main cathedral – though it took us much longer to walk to the cathedral since we were exploring the old town on the way to the cathedral.
It is late and the night receptionist is somewhere away from the counter relaxing but she comes quickly when we use the buzzer. The check in goes quickly and we get a room on the third floor. This is the top floor of the hotel and these rooms has the best view of either the fjord or the small canal and harbor – our room were facing the canal and we had a decent view of the harbor and the bridge crossing the harbor leading to the old town.
The room was pretty big with enough room to move around and store the luggage safely without risking to trip over it. The hotel was pretty modern and had everything you would need for a stay in a small town for a couple of days – though there was anything fancy or extra like the option to make a cup of coffee at night if you came back late and cold from exploring a town which isn’t the warmest place in the world this time of the year. We didn’t use the television much just checking the channels which appeared to be only Norwegian channels which might make them a little useless for some foreign visitors – though Scandinavian television is dubbed so you will usually be able to find a show in English to keep you entertained at night if you need it.
The big disappointment at the hotel was the breakfast – they didn’t have a breakfast room where they served food in the morning. Instead of a breakfast room they would leave a bag with a small bottle of juice and two not very tasty sandwiches outside your door in the morning. This is when you really miss the opportunity to make a cup of coffee yourself to help you wake up and make the dry and boring sandwich go down.

Good budget hotel Mar 31, 2015
The location of the hotel is fantastic, next to the main train station in Trondheim and the price is very reasonable for the expensive city in Norway.
Since we arrive after midnight, we choose the hotel which has twenty four hours reception just in case we can not check in, if the hotel does not have reception at night time. In addition to this, we are looking for a hotel which is close to ferry terminal, since we will depart in a two days’ time to another city in Norway and this hotel tick all of our requirements.
It is ten minutes’ easy walk to the ferry terminal from the hotel, which save us taxi fare.
The express airport bus service stop in front of Best Western hotel, which located near the bridge and require just five minutes walk to the hotel. From the Best Western hotel, we need to walk straight cross the bridge toward the main railway station (we can see the hotel logo from the bridge) and then turn left to go to the hotel.
From outside, the hotel building looks nice and huge for the price we paid.
When we enter the hotel door, nobody in the reception area, so we need to ring a bell which is located handily at the reception desk. Less than a minutes later, a friendly female reception come over and check us in. It was very easy and we do not have to show any identity card or passport. Once we get the card key, we head to the elevator to go to our room.
We get the room on the third floor with a view toward the harbour and river from the room. It was beautiful view and relaxing with a twinkling light from the harbour and city.
The room itself was spacious with minimalist décor and have everything we need. I was happy with it and I thought it was quite cheap for the price we paid compare with the room we have plus the beautiful view.
The bathroom was big enough with hot and cold water work perfectly well.
As in many European hotel, there were no air condition inside the room – however the opposite is require, since it was snowing the next day when we were there.
We booked a room with breakfast, unfortunately, it seems not many people stay in this place so we did not get a buffet breakfast. We did prepare for the worse – since I have read the review about the hotel especially the disappointing breakfast which consist of a small bag hanging outside the door in the morning and inside the bag has a small bottle of juice, and two sandwiches.
When I tried the sandwich, it do not have any taste and felt dry, I personally chuck the sandwich to the rubbish bin and just go out to have something to eat in the town.
For the price – albeit the breakfast, this is a good hotel to stay and close to many sights in Trondheim.
