P&G New Orleans Reviews
Salty, Overcooked Cafeteria Food Sep 30, 2016
I was looking for a divey, cafeteria style place to grab a hearty lunch and P&G fit the bill. I was disappointed that there wasn't a selection of green vegetables on the day I visited since that was what I was looking for. I ended up getting the daily crab cake lunch special, which was nothing more than carbohydrate central.
The extraordinarily salty crab cakes were mostly cornmeal and were very dry and bland. I had to chug three huge bottles of water after I ate them. The side of French bread was mediocre too, but at least it had been buttered and toasted. The standout of the plate was the truly delicious macaroni and cheese. It was loaded with gooey goodness and black pepper, giving it an authentic Southern spicy kick.
This place has all the charm of a sterile hospital cafeteria so I chose to get my lunch to go. The employees were friendly and my lunch was less than $10. I would've loved this place if they had offered some Southern style greens -- maybe they do on other days since the menu changes daily.
