Oyster card for the `TUBE` Feb 20, 2012
We spent only one day in London but found this card very useful. Bought it at Heathrow. 5 pound deposit and at the end of your stay you can take it back to an agent and you will get your deposit back.

Heathrow to Waterloo Station by the Tube was about 1 hour of travel time. Express TRain back to the terminal cost 19.99 pounds and was very fast if you don`t have a lot of time to catch your flight.

Express train between airport terminals is free.

Another feature we found useful was leaving large luggage at the Left Luggage storage. There is one at each terminal and costs 8 pounds per bag per 24 hour period. Just look our carry-on to the hotel.

Pre-purchase oyster card link Jul 12, 2012
This website link will be helpful to anyone visiting London. It's the oyster card link for visitors from the official Transport for London website (www.tfl.gov.uk):

You can buy your oyster card in advance and have it delivered to the country you reside in, or as already previously stated, buy it on arrival within London.

It can be used on buses, London underground trains ("tube") and London overground trains. It is cheaper to use the oyster card than spend cash fares - London travel can be very expensive, so saving money by just using a card is a must!

oyster cards Jun 18, 2011
A great way of travelling around London quickly without the constant hassle of buying train, tube or bus tickets each day. The cards can be bought at any station or ordered online and topped up at a stations ticket machines.

This thing is a god send if you are in London for an extended period of time. It is incredibly convenient, as you just put money on it and go. No waiting in lines for the ticket machine or fumbling in your pockets for change when you get onto a bus. You scan it at the turnstile, and go through. When it’s time, you just put more money on it by taking it to the people working at the stations. Easy.
