Oxford Suites Lancaster California Hotel Reviews
Good place to stay in Lancaster, especially long-term Sep 15, 2012
I basically lived at the Oxford Inn for weeks at a time over a 5 month period. It's not a bad place... The guests are about 2/3rds out of town workers like me, from construction dudes to aerospace execs. The rest seem to be older folks stopping over, and guests of family reunions. Lancaster isn't really a tourist destination...
-Comfortable and affordable
-Free full breakfast and dinner every day but Sunday night... For breakfast they'll cook you eggs, potatoes, or breakfast burritos the size of your foot if you want, besides the usual toast, coffee, juice.. Dinners are what they can heat without a full kitchen, but it's free.
-Two free (tiny) sodas, beers, wine, or drinks each night with your room
-Very clean and well kept
-They've basically fixed up an old, creaky building. It's nice, but not fully to modern standards
-You're good unless someone is upstairs. The main complaint from our guys it that you basically can't sleep if someone is moving around above you, the floors creak something awful and your room shakes
-Some maintenance problems, like the elevators for one of the two towers usually doesn't work so it can be quite a hike out of the building. Pipes in the rooms seem to burst on a regular basis.
-The custom breakfasts are great, but it can really back up early in the morning, 20 minutes in line to get your burrito - some clown always orders specialty eggs at the front of the line or argues with the cook/server/buser/maintenance lady. (it's free, but they could really use one more guy at the counter...)
-It's in Lancaster : )
The best part is the stereotypical dismal hotel bar down by the food line. Always an interesting mix of locals coming in for a drink (how would you even think of it??) and rowdy construction guys hitting on the bartender. You do get two tiny Dixie cups of free beer or wine each night with your room.
