Owlsland B&B Kalkan Reviews
Our favorite place to stay in Turkey! May 02, 2012
Owlsland is in the village of Bezirgan, home to approx 100 residents. Located in a beautiful green valley 20 mins drive from Kalkan, Owlsland is a small B&B in a 150 yr old farmhouse, with 3 rooms available. It's run by a Turkish -Scottish couple, Erol and Paulina. Erol is a chef and makes Turkish dishes with locally grown produce and Paulina makes her own jams. We had breakfast and supper both nights we were there and it was always delicious! Breakfast was served outside the main house on the deck, surrounded by gardens, and supper was inside the main house. Paulina has a great sense of humor and we loved listening to her stories!
Our rooms were spotless and comfortable and decorated very quaint. There was good hot water in the shower.
The village itself has the most kind generous locals, who do not speak english but are quick to offer tea to passing strangers, as happened to us. We took them up on their offer, sat alongside the fence with them and drank tea and played charades to get across what we wanted to. It made for a very memorable time spent there.
Owlsland was by far our favorite place to stay in Turkey, and probably my most favorite place to stay in all my travels combined! Very unique and authentic.
Do note though, you will not find other restaurants, or nightlife or any of that in Bezirgan. It's a peaceful rural village in the valley with lots of goats and chickens. Highly recommend Owlsland to anyone who wants a unique stay!
