Overton Park Memphis Reviews
The urban Memphian's one-stop outdoor destination May 10, 2015
Having lived in Memphis for 8 years now, I have come to love Overton Park. It has so much to offer as a large urban park as well as its other special sites.
-Home to the world-renowned Memphis Zoo (free on Tuesday afternoon with TN ID!)
-Site for the free Levitt Shell summer concert series which takes place most Thursday-Sunday nights May-August (highly recommended). Food trucks and beverages available on site.
-Large open fields for playing sports, relaxing on a blanket, or picnic.
-Several miles of paved and unpaved running/biking trails with connections to even more outside the park
-The Brooks Museum of Art is in the park
-Throughout the year there are many 5Ks and festivals here
-Walking distance to/from Overton Square and Rhodes College as well
Check out their website before you go to see if there will be anything special going on. Food trucks are known to stop by pretty often.

A Park with a lot to offer Jul 04, 2008
Overton Park is a city park with a lot to offer. It is home to the Memphis Zoo, The Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis College of Art, a Golf Course and much more. The Zoo is a day in and of itself, but if you need more to do you could check out the Brooks Museum. Between the Parks two many features you will find a Memorial to people from Memphis who have served in the US Armed Forces, and the Overton Park Shell. The Shell is an outdoor concert venue, Elvis Presley played there back in 1954. It is currently being renovated but should be reopened this fall, and will play host to about 50 free concerts a year. Assuming this isn't enough for you there is also the nine hole golf course in the park or you could wander on the trails through the Arboretum. Overton Park is a must for visitors and Memphians alike.
