Osteria dell' Acquacheta

Loud, crowded, and cozy in the best way. Osteria dell' Acquacheta is a wonderful little restaurant with the best steak I've ever tasted. You'll start out with yummy antipasti and pasta, moving finally to the restaurant's star attraction: la bistecca fiorentina. This delicious steak is sold by the kilo. The owner comes to each table individually to help diners decide how much steak is appropriate. He'll write out the wieght and price on the brown-paper-covered table for those who don't speak Italian. In the summer of 2006, the steak cost 30 euro per kilo. That may sound pricey, but given the quanitity and quality of the food, it seems like pocket change.

And don't you dare ask for steak sauce. That would be an insult to Acquacheta's succulent bistecca fiorentina. It comes with everything it needs: a little fire, some coarse salt, and a couple grinds of black pepper. That's good eating.
