Osteria Vivaldi is a tiny neighborhood restaurant and was recommended by my "Let's Go: Europe On a Budget" guidebook. The menu is filled with Venitian cuisine, which includes various types of seafood. Before any of the ordered dishes are served, everyone receives a small plate of polenta and fish. I would recommend the risotto, which is mixed with clams and served on top a finely chopped bed of greens. The greens are not only for looks; a mouthful of their risotto and radicchio is truly delicious. I'd rate it a 3.5 but can't do that with the stars.

The atmosphere is great too. As I enjoyed my meal, I saw local middle-aged men come in and happily chat over a glass of wine.

Prices: Primi 6-10 Euros. Secondi from 8.50 Euros.

Address: SAN POLO 1457, close to Campo San Polo on Cal. della Madoneta.
