as a lucky driver i realized how annoyed i would be if i had come by foot as the walk from the gate to the hostel is a journey itself: way too long.

That said, the facilities are somewhat historic and charming, enormous roofs and spaces (there s a summer camping all around the estate). I had a very nice single room with shared bathroom (to a different floor).

good sleep and simple breakfast

Cheap Hostel Mar 28, 2008

Florence's IYH hostel is a ways outside the city center but worth it for the budget-strained. You either have to take public transportation or a taxi (expensive).

The name doesn't lie -- this really is a countryside villa, with an outdoor loggia, and is surrounded by greenery. The rooms are regulation hostel bland but livable. You can check in after the lockout (9am-2pm in summer, 9am-3pm in winter), and curfew is midnight. They also offer 180 tent sites for cool camping amid their wooded acres.

In the first night we got robbed while we were sleeping. The photo camera was lying next to the closed bag and in the bag was the purse. The strange thing is, that the thief seemed to know where the purse was. and the only one who had seen this, was the guy at the reception when we were checking in.Although he first told us to pay at the day we would check out, he soon wanted us to pay while checking in. And while we were paying he was constantly looking at the purse with all the money and the credit cards.And in this night someone entered our room and took the purse out of the zipped CLOSED bag. we got awaked from a suspicious noise but we unforturnately didn´t realize the situation immediately.We realize it in the morning before breakfast. , because before we went sleeping the purse was still there.
This was so professional, it must have been someone from the staff who knew the rooms and whre the purse was. Everything was stolen: credit cards, passports, money.... So if you want to check in and see a guy with dark curly hair you´d better do youself a favor and search for another hotel. NEVER AGAIN this hostel.
