Oskaka Frankfurt am Main Reviews
Osaka - Japanese-Mongolian Restaurant with lunch and dinner buffet Sep 11, 2011
The Osaka is located in Bockenheim, the student area of Frankfurt in the midst of all the new buildings not to far from fairgrounds. (not within walking distance in German weather)
It has a lunch (7,90) and dinner (13,90) buffet and special for Sundays (9,90). On the buffet you pick your food, some premade meals, typcial chinese (yes!!! chinese) and Miso Soup. ON the other side there are a variety of meat (including Ostrich) and fish, lots of vegetables that you pile up on your plate and bring it to the cook, to have it thrown on the Teppan or in the WOk with a choice of 8 different sauces.
There is also a regular menu - the Japanese style menu starting at 20 Euro the Mongolian at 12 for chicken. I took the Mongolian style pork and was not able to tell the difference between chinese and mongolian and was a little disappointed, especially in the way they cut their meat (glad I did not have chicken though) the taste - no difference to chinese at all - but a heap of it on my plate. Mom had the Japanese menu with duck - it tastes delicious, the sauce was sweet tasting, the soup was good and I just loved the rice.
The regular dishes were just way too expensive (20 Euro average) not something I would spend on a dinner. Unfortunately no Tempura- and no Teriyaki - sigh...
They do serve Sushi, but that is an "IN" thing at the moment and I was not convinced by it.
