Great Mecidiye Mosque Jun 03, 2017
Great Mecidiye Mosque is located in Ortaköy near the Bosphorus Bridge( also called the First Bridge) in the European side of Istanbul. The architect Nikogos Balyan built it in 1853 during the reign of Sultan Abdulmecid.

The mosque was designed in Baroque style and has an elegant touch. Inside the mosque was built a private area for sultans. The high and wide windows let the light in from all around the mosque. The walls are made of white ashlar stonework. Only dome was decorated with pink mosaics. It has two minarets with a single gallery.

It is open for visitors as well as the believers.
